Prior to last week, I would have given Interstate Battery a five plus, according to how they handle their mistake, I'll change my rating. We have sent many motorist to them, since we received great service from them in the past, yet not this time! With the wrecker having other repairs, Danny towed our "chase" vehicle to the office and went to get the batteries replaced at Interstate Battery. It was not until he backed the wrecker up to a crashed vehicle that he discovered the wrecker part of the truck no longer operated. No power to use the wheel lift, no lights to warn other drivers to move over, Interstate Battery (unknown at that time) had taken the Towing & Recovery out of our company. We were forced to turn our owner request motorist over to other companies, including two who agreed for us to finish servicing our wrecker and be towed that evening. Danny used the wiring schematics to check for any worn wires, checked all fuses, had the computer check for error codes, still no power to the working part of the truck, he had tried everything he and our regular Tech knew could go wrong. Frankie Barnes of Parkway Wrecker, had an employee (Tech) who happened to be leaving a class for "Beyond The Computer" he left the class and came to us. He too went over the same things Danny and Wayne had. He even called another Tech, to ask if he had ever come across a problem like the one we were having! While looking for a third relay switch, under the back of the cab, behind the battery box, a wire that should have been re-connected and NOT shoved on top of the back side of the battery box when Interstate took the old batteries out. (also purchased from them) If a company sells and exchanges batteries, one would most certainly think they would reconnect ALL connections they removed. When Danny went back to Interstate Battery between law enforcement rotation calls, he was told "The guy who installed the batteries is a salesman" then stated no one was in to talk about their huge error in their service center, the hours of missed work it cost us or how much it really cost us.
